Specialist Physician, Rheumatology Fellow, Department of Medicine, South Africa
As a rheumatology fellow in the Department of Medicine at the University of Cape Town, my primary focus lies on exploring the burden of rheumatic diseases in the indigenous communities of South Africa. The current project is based on the impact of fatigue on Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) patients, which delves into understanding the prevalence, contributing factors, and implications of fatigue on the health-related quality of life(HRQoL) of RA patients. Moreover, I am passionate about developing tailored interventions, integrating exercise regimes and psycho-social therapies, to mitigate fatigue and adverse effects and enhance the overall well-being of these patients.
Beyond my current research, I have delved into the intricate dynamics of patient-physician discordance in global assessments of disease activity in RA, contributing to a nuanced understanding of this complex condition. My advocacy for personalized healthcare forms the cornerstone of my approach, emphasizing a holistic perspective that incorporates the invaluable insights of patients.
